According to the Public Relations Office of the Association of Iranian Tea Producers, Traders, and Tea Packaging Industries, Shahriar Daryani, Chairman of the Board of Directors, stated in an interview with the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) News Agency regarding Paragraph (C) of Article 20 of the Law on Supporting Production and Infrastructure Development, which permits companies to appoint legal representatives to appear before courts on their behalf:
“Most businesses are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). For many of them, pursuing legal claims through attorneys can be a complex and costly process.
In some cases, the value or significance of a dispute may not justify the expense and effort involved. As a result, some businesses choose not to pursue their claims, while others may agree to unfavorable settlements and consequently forgo part of their legal rights.
When a company’s legal representative appears before the court, that individual is often closely familiar with the company’s operations and interests and is therefore highly motivated to ensure that the matter is handled effectively. As an internal representative, they may be better positioned to follow the case closely and respond to the company’s legal needs.”
